Never miss a WOD again using these 5 tips to make exercise a habit
1.) Make it a priority
If you really want to start working out, sacrifices will have to be made. Going out for drinks with friends after work, or staying up late Monday night to watch the Football game are just two examples of things that prevent people from consistently going to the gym. Prioritizing time in the week for exercising requires dedication, and there will be many times when you have to tell your friends that you can’t go out after work, or go out to watch the game because you have to get up in the morning to workout.
2.) Log your workouts
Keep a little notebook next to your night stand, or utilize SugarWOD on your phone so that you can record your workouts. This is a quick way to hold yourself accountable to consistently exercising. If you take a week off, you will be reminded of your inconsistencies every time you review it.
3. ) Set goals
Setting goals for yourself keeps you hungry. That is one thing that ALL fitness enthusiasts have in common. They set goals and then go after it. Goals can range from winning a gold medal in the Olympics to something as simple as getting in the gym 3 days a week. Once you achieve that goal, you will feel more accomplished then ever before, which makes all the hard work and sacrifices worth it! It is also a way of making a plan. Lets be real, failing to plan is planning to fail. Set your goals and work towards them.
4.) Start small
Many times, when we have people come into the gym, their main goal is to lose a bunch of weight. But that is way too overwhelming. picking a goal that is attainable is essential. For example, if someones goal is to lose 100 pounds, don’t they have to lose 5 lbs first? Set yourself up for success and start small. Break up your goals into small chunks and keep chipping away at them.
5.) Have a workout buddy
Having a workout buddy is one of the most beneficial things that you can do for yourself. If your friend tells you that they will meet you at the gym in the morning, you WILL be there. If you aren’t, you will hear about it later and it won’t happen again. Nobody likes the feeling of letting someone down.
