⚡️ Strong Is Good. Powerful Is Better. ⚡️
Why Power Training Matters More Than You Think
One of the biggest reasons our current training cycle is focused on POWER is because we’re now taking the strength we built during our previous cycle through the back squat, bench press, and deadlift and teaching the body how to use it faster.
Research by Reid and Fielding published in Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews found that explosive power is actually more predictive of how well we age than maximal strength alone.
Read that again:
The ability to produce force quickly 👉 to jump, react, catch yourself when you trip, move athletically, climb stairs with speed and confidence is a stronger indicator of long-term function and independence than simply how much weight you can lift.
Power Is What Keeps You Athletic
What’s even more compelling is that power declines earlier and faster than strength.
As we age, our lifting numbers may stay relatively decent while our ability to express force quickly starts to disappear. In fact, power output declines at nearly twice the rate of strength.
That’s why training power matters so much.
This isn’t just about improving performance inside the gym. It’s about maintaining the ability to move confidently and explosively throughout life.
To react faster. Move better. Stay athletic longer.
What You’ll Notice In This Cycle
You’ll notice:
- Heavy lifts paired with explosive movements
- More jumps, throws, and speed work
- Emphasis on bar speed and intent
- Training designed to improve coordination, reaction, and athleticism
Because strength alone isn’t the goal.
The goal is learning how to ACCESS and APPLY that strength powerfully and efficiently both inside and outside the gym.
Why This Matters Outside the Gym
Most people aren’t training for a podium.
They’re training to feel stronger, move better, stay healthy, and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.
Power training supports all of that.
It helps you stay athletic. It helps you move with confidence. It helps preserve the physical qualities that tend to disappear first as we age.
This is the kind of training that keeps people young and athletic for life 👊
